Chasing Waterfalls : Kawasan Falls

Wednesday, June 21, 2017 Badian, Cebu, Philippines

The province of Cebu is gifted with more than a hundred waterfalls according to local blogger and weekend traveler, VivoMigsGee. And if you're going to ask anyone who lives here about which the must-visit waterfalls in the province, they would highly recommend Kawasan Falls in Badian or Tumalog Falls in Oslob, Cebu. It's quite a shame that I was only able to visit the famous waterfalls just early this year in my twenty-four years of living in Cebu. Haha!

How to get there? Ride a bus bound to Bato (via Barili) in Cebu South Bus Terminal. Make sure that you would take the bus bound to Bato (via Barili) and not Bato (via Oslob) since the latter stops on the east side of the province and Kawasan Falls is on west side. We rode an air-conditioned bus and fare is about 150 PHP. Travel time is about 3 hours, depending on the traffic situation. Also, ask the bus conductor to drop you off at the bus stop to Kawasan Falls.

When you reach the bus stop, you'll likely to see a huge billboard that says "This Way to Kawasan Falls" with pictures of the waterfalls. Follow that sign. Also, you'll going to pay 20 PHP for entrance fee.

While we were on our way to the first waterfall, we saw this cute dog who faithfully followed his master's command.

This arch bridge still looks stunning even though it's been built quite long time ago.

I don't know the name of these plants but they look so lovely as they add vibrant to the river's water.

This isn't the first waterfall yet but this came from the nearby hydro power plant.
Another bridge!

After more than 10 minutes of walking, we finally saw this beautiful glimpse!
We decided to rent a table for 300 PHP so we can put our bags and the raft that would take us near the waterfalls cost 300 PHP as well.
Perfect massage!
After not more than an hour of enjoying the first waterfall, we went up for next two waterfalls. The trail going there was no joke so you have be careful. I almost tripped down several times. Haha!

Hello, second waterfall! Good thing, there were only a few people in here unlike the first one, people there were flocking. Also, we saw some folks who were brave enough to jump off there! I want to try (even if just once) but nah. Lol.

Mirve used to be my office mate. She decided to settled down in her hometown and now works as a tour guide/organizer for canyoneering tours in Southern Cebu. You can send her a direct message on her Instagram account.

Call of nature, literally. Ha ha ha!
We're getting nearer to the last weaterfall.

You can go sliding here as well which cost 10 PHP but since I went here with my friend Mirve, I didn't have to pay for it. Perks! Haha.
Perfect photo op at the third waterfall.

It's already been months since I went here but the beauty of Kawasan still lingers on my mind up to this day. I want to go back there. I want to and I need to. I now understand why it is so famous and why many people love to go there even though it's getting more commercialize by some. Still, the calming effect of the running waters of Kawasan or amazing adventures they bring are enough reasons to go there.
